Maths Tutors Totton

Tutoring Heroes first started offering maths tuition in Totton in 2019. Our reputation for delivering top-quality maths classes has blossomed over the years with many students returning and parents coming to us through word of mouth. Take a look at the hundreds of positive reviews our maths tutors have been given online.

We first started out delivering maths tuition to up to three students at small local venues in Totton. Word of our amazing tutors soon spread and our classes grew in numbers. By the end of the year our maths tutors were delivering maths lessons in the larger venue of West Totton Community Centre.

Not many businesses in the United Kingdom were prepared for the Covid-19 pandemic. All of a sudden, we were forced to stop giving our lessons in person and move to online teaching.

In an unexpected twist, online tuition actually created a more positive learning experience for our students. Private tutoring allowed for a more bespoke approach to teaching and student-tutoring dynamics improved. Our dedicated tutors were able to focus on each student’s learning preferences and learning requirements.

Tutor availability was more flexible and families who struggled to attend in-person classes were now able to sign up to the online tutoring at their convenience and book however many hours of tuition required. During the pandemic there was a lot of disruption in school as many class teachers struggled to manage their lessons online. Private tuition helped students not to fall behind academically and offered extra support that their qualified maths teacher was unable to offer.

Tutoring Heroes was also able to source the very best online tutors from other areas of the country. This allowed us to match students up with a wider variety of friendly tutors to suit their needs, personalities and learning styles.

Our new approach has provided private lessons to hundreds of students in the Totton area. Our private tutors have helped primary school students attending Hazel Wood Infant School and Abbotswood Junior School, and secondary school students enrolled at Hounsdown School and Testwood School.

Our expert tutors have all passed a rigorous tutor screening process and been background checked. Whether a student is in primary school and needs help preparing for entry school exams, or in secondary school struggling with their GCSE maths classes, Tutoring Heroes can support them and give them the boost they require to achieve their goals.

Why trust Tutoring Heroes for your child's maths tutoring?

At Tutoring Heroes we believe success in mathematics is achieved through addressing three core points:

Skill Development

Our excellent maths tutors have in-depth understanding of the maths curriculum. Each bespoke plan for tuition works towards developing key maths skills such as critical thinking, problem solving and grasping the required methodology at each maths level. This is just as important as memorising formulas and techniques.

Emphasis on Fun

We hire excellent maths tutors who know how to create a positive learning environment. Not only are they knowledgeable but they are also charismatic, strong communicators. Many students dread maths classes in school and so part of our tutoring approach is to deliver the maths curriculum in a fun way. By taking this approach students are more likely to cultivate a profound understanding of the subject.

Cementing Confidence

Through consistent positive feedback, highlighting a student’s strengths and working through their weaknesses, our math tutors are able to boost confidence levels. We often find that students are more than capable of understanding mathematical concepts but lack the confidence to ask their class teacher questions when they need to. Sometimes shyness or a reluctance to speak up leads to ‘maths anxiety’ and disinterest in the subject. We encourage students to engage within a more relaxed work environment so they can fortify their mathematical ability.

Academic levels that we support

Tutoring Heroes starts offering maths tuition to students studying Key Stage 2 in primary school (years 3, 4, 5 and 6). Our top-rated tutors gear their lesson plans towards supporting what their maths pupils are covering with their primary school teacher and the maths curriculum.

Pupils at KS2 may require online lessons to understand core maths skills such as addition, subtraction, multiplication and division, or they may need help preparing for their 11+, 13+, SATs or a school entrance exam. Our maths tutors are ready to offer whatever study resources each individual student requires in a lesson format that supports them on their academic journey.

Secondary school maths classes can suddenly feel quite complex and overwhelming. Students have much busier schedules with other academic subjects, extracurricular activities and other distractions. Our maths tutors can offer extra guidance to students studying Key Stage 3 (years 7, 8 and 9) and keep their learning development on track and focused.

In year 10 and 11 all focus is on GCSEs. We often see worried students who are under stress at the sheer magnitude of juggling nine or more different subjects, coursework and exam revision. The Tutoring Heroes team is made up of experienced tutors who through patience, empathy and organised lesson planning can transform a student’s approach to learning during these important years. Our tutors provide GCSE maths students with valuable exam techniques, time management skills and revision advice for all major exam boards. By looking at different approaches to answering exam questions, students can familiarise themselves with the marking criteria of the exam boards current syllabus so there aren’t any nasty shocks on the day.

Students at AS and A level similarly require support in gaining their desired grades. This is often a critical component in deciding whether they can get into their university of choice and pursue their dream career. From studying specific exam board papers and questions to mastering complex maths concepts, our experienced tutors can arm students with the tools to succeed.

Our team is already giving private tuition to many students in Totton who are attending schools such as Hollybrook Junior School and Oakfield Academy. Get in contact with a member of our team if you would like to find out more.
