Maths Tutors Fleet

In Fleet our Tutoring Heroes team has been tutoring maths since 2019. Our experienced tutors have built a strong reputation within the community and are known amongst parents as the go-to maths tutors for improving students’ results. Take a look at our reviews online to hear the successful outcomes of our students.

When we first started out as just a few maths tutors, we were giving maths classes once or twice a week to just a small number of students. Through these sessions we could see that there was a demand for good quality tuition in the area to support what students were learning with their qualified teachers in school. Towards the end of the year our amazing tutors were hosting larger classes at The Key Centre.

In 2020 we hit a speed bump. The Covid-19 pandemic halted our in-person classes and we were forced to rethink our set up and move to online tutoring. At the time we were worried about our business and how it would survive these changes. Our team of friendly tutors had worked very hard to nurture a positive learning environment in the maths classes and there were concerns that we would lose some of the ‘magic’ by going online.

However, moving to online learning turned out to be a revelation for Tutoring Heroes. Online classes meant we could focus on one-to-one tutoring and build a stronger rapport with pupils. This meant that maths lessons were more focused on each individual student’s learning preferences and learning style. Lesson plans could be finely tuned which saw an improvement in every student’s maths skills.

Maths classes became available to more students as flexible scheduling allowed busy families to find times that suited them. Students found it easier to juggle their private classes with their academic schedule and other extracurricular activities.

The pandemic also put a lot of extra pressure on the student’s qualified school teachers. Most of the school classes were forced to go online abruptly and maths teachers had to deliver classes to large online groups. Many students at the time found this overwhelming and required extra tuition to avoid falling behind.

When Tutoring Heroes provided in-person classes, we only used local Fleet tutors. Now with online lessons we can source people with extensive tutoring experience from all over the United Kingdom, broadening our horizons and the variety of our tutors.

By mid-2023, our team had delivered private lessons to over 150 students in and around Fleet. Our online lessons have supported students attending primary schools including All Saints Church of England Aided Junior School and Elvetham Heath Primary School, and a variety of secondary schools such as Calthorpe Park School and Court Moor School.

Every private tutor we hire has been background checked, has a strong academic background and maths tutoring experience. Whether you are looking for an expert tutor to support a student at primary school level or to help a GCSE level student prepare for their maths exam, we have a maths tutor who will be a perfect fit.

Why trust Tutoring Heroes for your child's maths tutoring?

There are three key factors to Tutoring Heroes’ approach in helping students along the stepping stones to success.

Improve Skills

First and foremost, our tutors have extensive knowledge of the maths curriculum and are highly creative in the way they develop their lessons so students can grasp the fundamental skills and techniques they require to progress in the subject. By teaching mathematical methodology our tutors train students with the ability to be independent learners with a robust problem-solving mindset.

Elements of fun

Boring classes make students’ eyes glaze over and brains switch off. That is why we only hire tutors who are charismatic and engaging. We understand that students that enjoy their classes are more likely to gain enthusiasm and a passion for the subject. Our math tutors deliver classes that balance hard work with fun so students build a positive association with maths. Through this approach we have seen a huge difference in students and their academic progress.

Boost Confidence

Most students in their first private classes express frustration and a lack of confidence in maths. Sometimes they have had bad experiences in school when they have been embarrassed by a mathematics teacher in front of the class or generally hate speaking up in front of a large group of students. Our maths tutors create a positive learning environment and nurture students’ confidence through positive encouragement, feedback on their strengths and providing a safe space to ask as many questions as they need.

Academic levels that we support

Our bespoke tutoring courses begin at primary school level with pupils studying Key Stage 2 in years 3, 4, 5 and 6. At this level our private tutoring supports what students are learning with their primary teacher, in alignment with the school curriculum.

Parents often approach Tutoring Heroes at this stage because their son or daughter is struggling to progress in the group classroom setting or because they need extra support ahead of an exam such as: 11+, 13+, SATs and school entrance exams. Many primary school pupils who have never sat an exam before are nervous. Our knowledgeable tutors can help students go through exam papers, understand how to correctly approach questions and even do mock exams so they can perform their best on the day when it counts.

For secondary school students studying Key Stage 3 (years 7, 8 and 9) our maths tutoring is geared more towards understanding complex mathematical concepts. Some students require more time than their maths teacher can offer in the classroom to fully understand these ideas and develop their problem-solving methodology. Our sessions are tailored to each individual student.

In year 10 and 11 students face their GCSE level maths exams. Most students we meet at this stage have anxiety about achieving their predicted grades and how they might perform on the day of the exam. There is a way to reduce this stress – practice, revision and fine-tuning exam techniques. Our experienced tutors offer an abundance of support during this high-pressured period of development. Tutoring Heroes builds the confidence of each GCSE maths student with valuable exam support including: how to manage allotted time efficiently, how to maximise on the marking criteria, by familiarising students with specific exam board papers and practising exam questions in a mock exam setting.
Students are at AS and A level have high expectations put upon them to gain the very best results in their exams. If they fail to achieve their predicted grade they run the risk of losing out on their preferred university choice. We find that students feel under a lot of pressure at this stage as results can be life changing. Our professional tutors are on hand to reduce this anxiety and help students step-by-step to work through complex mathematical concepts and master the marking criteria so they can achieve the results they require.
Tutoring Heroes is already supporting many maths students in the Fleet area who are attending a variety of schools including Heatherside Junior School and secondary schools such as Calthorpe Park School and Court Moor School. We even have the capacity to support international students and international qualifications, and some of our tutors speak foreign languages. Take a look at our online reviews from parents and students to see the positive impact that our tutors have had on their academic development.
