Maths Tutors Waterlooville

The Tutoring Heroes team first began delivering maths tuition in Waterlooville in 2019. Over the years our talented maths tutors have built a strong reputation with parents and students which can be seen from all the five-star reviews on our website.

In the beginning we started delivering maths lessons in Waterlooville to a small number of students in their homes. Although we were only giving one or two maths classes a week the reputation of our amazing tutors soon grew within the community and by the end of the year it made sense to offer more students help by providing maths classes at a community venue (the Springwood Community Centre).

The Covid-19 pandemic, as with many other businesses in the Waterlooville area, caused a bit of disruption to our plans. We were forced to rethink the Tutoring Heroes formula and move our maths tuition online to deliver classes on a one-to-one basis.

To our surprise the new plan for online tuition actually proved to be very effective and created a more positive learning experience for our students. Our maths tutors found that student-tutoring dynamics improved as private tutoring allowed them to focus on each students requirements and learning preferences.

Online tutoring also worked better in terms of scheduling. Classes were easier to programme for busy families and students. Flexible tutoring allowed them to find a better balance between their academic schedule, extracurricular activities and private tuition. Most students during this period were not able to attend maths classes in school with their qualified teacher so private tuition helped them not to fall behind academically.

Tutoring Heroes was also able to provide online tutors, not only from the local area, but from across the UK. It is safe to say that we will be sticking to the online lesson format for the foreseeable future.

As of mid-2023, our new approach to tutoring has provided private lessons to over 100 students in and around Waterlooville. We have helped students from local primary schools such as St Peter’s Catholic Primary School, Denmead Junior School, Purbrook Junior School and secondary school students attending Crookhorn College and Oaklands Catholic School.

Why trust Tutoring Heroes for your child's maths tutoring?

The Tutoring Heroes team believes that every student can surpass their expectations in maths by incorporating these three points:

Develop Skills

Improving maths skills isn’t just about memorising formulas but embracing a type of methodology and problem-solving mindset. Our talented maths tutors have a wealth of knowledge in the topic area and can empower students with learning techniques and tools that will encourage independent learning and development as well as building a strong foundation in the topic area.

Have Fun

Students who are bored in class do not learn. Our tutors are very passionate about delivering the maths curriculum in a fun way. Their enthusiasm is shared consistently in every class they teach. By creating a fun environment, maths students are more likely to develop their own passion for the subject and cultivate an in-depth understanding of the subject.

Build Confidence

A confidence-building maths tutor can make a big impact on a student’s learning experience. Students have come to our classes saying they dread their maths teachers asking them questions in front of the whole class and that they are embarrassed to ask their maths teacher questions – even that they are nervous ahead of their normal maths classes in school. Our tutors have a supportive approach to teaching that encourages active participation to work through these barriers.

Academic levels that we support

The level of tuition we provide in Waterlooville is top-quality. Our maths tuition starts at primary school level supporting pupils studying Key Stage 2 in years 3, 4, 5 and 6. The learning support that our tutors offer is geared towards the school curriculum and what students are learning with their primary school teacher.

One common reason parents look for private maths tutors for their child at this stage is because they are nervous about sitting their first exam. Our experienced math tutors have an excellent understanding of how to help pupils prepare for their 11+, 13+, SATs and school entrance exams by practising exam style questions and papers. Sometimes building exam technique is just as important as improving a student’s understanding of the subject area.

Secondary school level students in years 7, 8 and 9 (Key Stage 3), often require extra support in grasping complex mathematical concepts such as ratios and trigonometry. Doing well at this stage increases the chances of being placed in higher achieving classes at GCSE level which can have a big impact on a student’s development.

Once students are studying for their GCSEs in year 10 and 11 they often begin to feel the pressure of the impending exams. GCSEs are often the first important stepping stones on the academic ladder that can shape a young person’s projection. Not getting the grades at this stage can impact what A levels they can study and their university options. Our knowledgeable tutors understand this pressure and offer a great deal of support during this intense period of development. Private tuition can help a student to achieve their predicted maths grade and even surpass it. Our tutors teach important exam techniques such as how to manage allotted time efficiently, read through exam questions and papers thoroughly and familiarise students with the marking criteria. We have seen a vast reduction in anxiety and stress in some of our students as a result of getting private tuition.

At AS and A level the focus of our tutors is on how to help students gain the required qualifications so they can gain a place at their university of choice. Our tutors support students in their exam preparation, to master complex mathematical concepts and fully understand the marking criteria in relation to the specific exam board, so they can achieve the results they are capable of.

The Tutoring Heroes team is already supporting maths students in the Waterlooville – Hampshire area attending schools including Horndean Church of England Junior School, Berewood Primary School, Clanfield Junior School and Horndean Technology College and Purbrook Park School.
