We understand that science can sometimes feel overwhelming, especially when it involves complex theories and formulas. That’s why we offer one-on-one tutoring in a comfortable environment, where students can ask questions freely and progress at their own pace.
Tailored tutoring to suit your child’s learning style
No two students are the same. At Tutoring Heroes, our approach to tutoring is built on personalisation. We start by identifying your child’s learning style—whether they’re visual, auditory, reading/writing, or kinesthetic learners—and tailor the lesson to match.
We believe in adaptable tutors who can pivot their approach based on your child’s needs. Whether they need visual aids to understand atomic structures or interactive models to explore human biology, we adapt to how they learn best.
What do our science lessons cover?
Our online tutors are subject experts in Chemistry and Physics, Biology, and GCSE combined science. We cover a wide range of science topics in line with the national curriculum, ensuring your child stays on track with what they’re learning at school.
Science at Key Stage 1 & 2
In the early years, science focuses on observation, exploration, and curiosity. We help students develop basic skills in understanding natural phenomena, conducting simple experiments, and interpreting results—all while having fun.
Science at Key Stage 3
As children move into secondary school, science becomes more structured. Our secondary school students benefit from tutoring in topics like cells, forces, and chemical reactions. We also introduce study skills to help them prepare for assessments.
GCSE Science
Our GCSE Science tutors are well-versed in supporting students through both combined science and triple science pathways. We work with all major exam boards, ensuring that your child is prepared with topic-specific knowledge, practical skills, and the confidence to succeed.
Students cover:
- GCSE Chemistry: periodic table, bonding, chemical reactions
- GCSE Biology: cell biology, genetics, ecosystems
- GCSE Physics: energy, electricity, motion, and difficulties in physics concepts like forces and waves
A-Level Science
We also provide support at advanced levels, including A-Level Biology, A-Level Chemistry, and A-Level Physics. Our tutors assist with complex topics, help students understand biology exam papers, and prepare for A-level exams through exam practice and targeted revision strategies.
Supporting students across Andover’s schools
We support students from a number of primary schools and secondary schools in and around Andover. Whether your child attends Vigo Primary School, Portway Junior School, or Anton Junior School, our primary school teachers ensure they build a solid foundation.
We also work with students from local secondary schools like Harrow Way Community School, Winton Community Academy, and John Hanson Community School. Our tutors are familiar with school curriculums and align our online lessons with what’s being taught in class.
For older students, we also support learners from Andover College, helping them with their A-levels and providing guidance on choosing science-based university courses.
Tutors with strong academic and teaching backgrounds
All of our tutors are hired by us—not through third-party agencies. Each one has a strong background in their subject, often holding an academic degree such as a degree in chemistry or a background in Imperial College London studying science at the highest level.
Some of our experienced science teachers hold a Degree in Economics with a scientific specialism, while others have real-world experience in the environment sector. Many of our tutors also have teacher training qualifications and classroom experience, making them skilled in explaining tricky concepts and keeping lessons engaging.
Whether your child is matched with a qualified Science Teacher, a Primary Teacher, or an experienced tutor, they’ll be in excellent hands.
We build more than just knowledge – we build confidence
Success in science isn’t just about memorising facts—it’s about feeling capable. That’s why we prioritise confidence-building in every session. Our tutors create a comfortable environment where your child feels safe to ask questions, take risks, and explore science in their own way.
This holistic approach means your child not only improves academically but also enjoys a more enjoyable learning experience overall.
Why science tutoring matters
Science subjects don’t just prepare students for school exams—they build valuable life skills. From analytical thinking to creative problem-solving, students learn to:
- Interpret data
- Test hypotheses
- Think logically
- Communicate ideas clearly
Our experienced full-time online tutors support students in mastering these skills, ensuring they’re prepared for future college education, university, or even careers in the lifelong learning sector.
Preparing for academic and career success
Whether your child dreams of becoming a doctor, engineer, or working in the environment sector, success in science can open many doors. Our tutors support students through language exams, level biology, and science-related academic subjects, helping them prepare for:
- Science-based university level degrees
- Applications to universities like Imperial College
- Careers in medicine, research, or even philosophy students exploring science-based logic
Teaching methods that make a difference
Our tutors don’t just deliver content—they create interactive lessons that make learning exciting. Using platforms like Whiteboard, we turn science sessions into an interactive classroom experience with visuals, notes, and problem-solving activities.
We use real biology exam papers and model answers to prepare students for what they’ll face in exams. We also teach effective exam skills, like how to manage time, plan answers, and spot common traps in A-level and GCSE science exams.
We offer more than just science
While science is one of our core focuses, we also offer English classes, maths classes, and may even be able to accommodate foreign languages like French. If you’re looking for English tutors, a maths tutor, or even French tutors for your child, we may be able to help depending on tutor availability.
Many of our science tutors are also maths teachers, which is ideal given how crucial maths proficiency is to mastering scientific concepts like data analysis, units, and equations.
Online tuition with flexibility and convenience
All our lessons are conducted online, giving families access to flexible timings, reduced travel stress, and the opportunity to be matched with the ideal tutor, no matter where you live. Online tuition provides a flexible learning solution that fits into your family’s routine—even in your child’s spare time after school.
Whether your child is receiving help from a full-time tutor or working with a tutor with a decade of experience, our lessons are designed to be effective, supportive, and fun.

Meet some of our tutors
Annie
Annie is a dedicated science tutor, though she can also support our students in maths and English. Currently studying Biomedical Science at the University of York, she brings both academic excellence and a deep passion for learning to her sessions.
Annie achieved outstanding GCSE and A-level results, especially in chemistry and biology, and is particularly fascinated by genetics, human physiology, and physical chemistry.
Her tutoring style is warm, approachable, and methodical. Having experienced the pressures of exams herself, Annie is committed to helping students build confidence by simplifying complex ideas and offering plenty of practice through exam-style questions. She loves showing students how science, maths, and English are essential for understanding the world around us and inspiring critical thinking.
Outside of tutoring, Annie plays netball competitively for her university team and enjoys hiking with her family. A surprising fact about Annie is that, despite being a lover of books and films, she has never watched the Harry Potter series — something that often surprises her friends! She is enthusiastic about pursuing a career in genetic counselling after university.
Mo
Mo is one of our most enthusiastic and focused science and maths tutors. He’s dedicated to helping students build both science-specific skills and classroom confidence. Having achieved excellent academic results at GCSE and A-level, Mo is now studying Biomedical Science at university, where he particularly enjoys immunology, and is especially interested in learning the ways in which the body's immune responses differ, depending on illnesses.
Passionate about science, Mo loves that the subject allows him to explore and satisfy his natural curiosity, for everything that human beings investigate in the natural world. He also enjoys the challenge of maths, and the way mathematics principles interrelate with science. We appreciate his patient, motivating tutoring style and the way he keeps students focused, while celebrating their progress every step of the way.
Outside of tutoring, Mo plays volleyball competitively and recreationally, valuing the resilience and teamwork it develops. He is also passionate about calisthenics and is dedicated to mastering full-body skills like handstands and muscle-ups. A fun fact about Mo is that he has visited the White House — an experience he will never forget!
Ultimately, Mo hopes to pursue a career in science, whether that’s in research, medicine, or education. His primary goal is to use his skills to make a positive impact on the world.
