What does science tutoring cover?
Science is a broad subject, encompassing complex concepts and real-world problem-solving. Our private tutoring covers all science disciplines at different academic levels.
Key Stage 1 & 2
For young learners (including 2-5 year olds), we focus on the foundations: exploring natural phenomena, basic human biology, materials, and the environment. Sessions are playful and engaging, fostering curiosity and sparking a love for science from an early age.
Key Stage 3 Sciences
Here we introduce more structured learning in Biology, Chemistry, and Physics. Students begin to explore scientific methods, energy, forces, ecosystems, and the periodic table.
GCSE Combined Science & Triple Science
Students tackle more advanced scientific concepts, preparing for their GCSEs with either a combined science qualification (worth two GCSEs) or triple science (worth three). Our tutors help students master each subject – Biology, Chemistry, and Physics – with a clear emphasis on practical applications, terminology, and exam preparation.
A-Level Science Subjects
A-level students receive support in A-Level Physics, A-Level Chemistry, and A-Level Biology, depending on their chosen pathway. Our tutors break down complex calculus in physics, enhance understanding of college chemistry, and guide students through genetics, biochemistry, and more.

How we adapt to your child’s preferred learning style
Students learn in different ways—some visually, some through writing, and others through doing. We adapt to each student’s preferred learning style using the VARK model (Visual, Auditory, Reading/Writing, Kinesthetic).
Each lesson format is designed to enhance your child’s strengths and support them where they struggle. This creates an effective learning experience that’s genuinely tailored.
Our teaching styles and techniques
We don’t believe in a one-size-fits-all method. Our tutors combine their teaching experience, research-informed teaching, and dynamic teaching techniques to build your child’s knowledge.
Depending on the student’s needs, we may:
- Use visual aids and virtual experiments
- Guide students through structured student study sessions
- Break down theories using real-life applications
- Provide frequent low-stakes testing
- Offer targeted help on stronger topics or areas of weakness
This helps build long-term conceptual understanding and ensures your child is exam-ready.
Learning that’s flexible and convenient
Our online classes offer maximum convenience and flexibility. With online tutoring, you don’t have to factor in traffic or commute times—just pick a time of day that suits you, and log in from anywhere.
We use an interactive whiteboard platform, which includes:
- Real-time note sharing
- Diagrams and models
- Past paper walkthroughs
- Step-by-step worked examples
This format allows for engaging, interactive classroom experiences—without your child ever needing to leave the house.

Elliot
Elliot is a fun and driven tutor who specialises in science - particularly biology—as well as maths. As he’s currently completing a psychology degree, Elliot has an advanced understanding of how young people learn and stay motivated. He is especially enthusiastic about educational and health psychology, and hopes to one day influence national education policy to support the mental wellbeing of school children. This makes him an extremely valuable tutor and
Elliot achieved extremely strong academic results at both GCSE and A-level, and has a particular fondness for topics like biodiversity, nutrition, and differentiation. His love for biology stems from an early interest in how living things function and interact with their environment. He also tutors in maths, and finds maths to be a satisfying challenge that can equip students with vital science skills. He is known for his patient and upbeat tutoring style, always aiming to make lessons enjoyable and engaging for every student.
Outside of tutoring, Elliot enjoys watching football (he’s a loyal Swansea City fan), cooking healthy meals, exploring music and film, and staying active. A quirky fact about him? Felicity
Felicity is one of our super-outgoing and passionate chemistry tutors with a particular fascination with atoms and molecules. She is currently studying chemistry at university - she brings an infectious enthusiasm to every session, with every student.
Felicity particularly enjoys exploring real-world examples of chemistry in action; for instance, how cooking techniques affect flavour, or how CFCs damage the ozone layer. Felicity achieved excellent results at both GCSE and A-level, and she now specialises in areas such as organic chemistry and chirality, where she’s captivated by how molecular structures can influence everything from drug effectiveness to environmental impact.
Her tutoring style is warm, calm, and adaptable, creating a supportive space where students feel comfortable to learn and grow. She takes pride in celebrating her students’ progress and is always ready to adjust her methods to suit different learning styles.
Beyond her work with Tutoring Heroes, Felicity loves spending time with friends, going to concerts, and relaxing through running, or cooking.
